Authorised users, clients and Police services can access the Medusa system directly from this website. See tab at top of page.
Advance’s revolutionary Medusa monitoring system has won plaudits from many local authorities. The most advanced system of its kind in the country, Medusa is unique in providing fully integrated monitoring, control and management functions for a variety of camera systems. It is highly scaleable and fault tolerant, enabling Advance Monitoring Solutions to optimise management and response to events from camera systems anywhere in the UK. Medusa brings up images to the CCTV operator or authorised viewer at the time of the alarm and this triggers the responses required. The operator only has to know one software system so can be fast and accurate in operation. Immediately a camera stops functioning, an alarm is raised.
Medusa’s role is to accept the protocols of all leading camera manufacturers, translate them into the highest possible picture rendition and deliver automatic responses whatever the application. Medusa provides high reliability, easy-to-use support solutions for multiple OEM systems and has undergone continuous upgrades in line with the ongoing advancement in digital wireless communication systems. Advance has the ability to improve Medusa endlessly in the future, as it has been proven to have chosen the right deployment model. Medusa is service based and delivered through the Internet so new releases can be made available to all our clients as often as is necessary.
Advance aims to improve CCTV camera reliability rate, which in one region has run at 99.8% following installation. Advance has relocated and increased the number of Medusa hosting servers to provide increased security and reliability and have further improved connectivity to Tier 1 Internet connectivity. Support has been increased for different manufacturers’ equipment and protocols. This has added more value and leverage by the addition of smarter features. This includes developing analytics to include ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and extended ANPR and other cutting edge surveillance tools.
The reach of the Medusa system continues to be increased by developing and improving the already impressive secure wireless solutions. Upcoming video compression standards such as H264 are being incorporated. All these features will improve even further Advance’s ability to deploy low cost, high performance metropolitan area surveillance systems.
Two Medusa features newly launched:
Fully integrated GIS
This allows clients and users to manage their surveillance systems applying a tactical, geographical overlay on view whenever they wish.
Extended ANPR functionality
Medusa is already compatible with the Police National ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system. A highly exciting new development involves the use of standard surveillance technology in an ANPR model. Hence, ANPR can be used in a series of decision support roles. For example when an ANPR camera detects a ‘tagged’ car number plate (e.g. a stolen car), Medusa will automatically signal other appropriate surveillance cameras in the area to obtain surveillance material. This means that effectively an automatic override of all appropriate cameras will ensure monitoring and recording of footage happens instantly. Nick-named the “eyes down” feature, this technology will greatly assist in the recording of valuable footage directly targeted at the given driver of the vehicle. This will assist police in evidence gathering for a ‘tagged’ vehicle that is on the move. All this can happen with no operator involvement greatly enhancing the efficiency of Medusa in detecting and recording crime.
